David Bailey Lee, MBA '72
Marketing and Publisher in Health Industry, sailor, tennis player

David came to Cape Cod in 1990, when he married his spouse, Hallie Stephenson Lee, at the Church of the Redeemer in Woods Hole. Cape Cod seemed familiar to him since he grew up in Toms River, New Jersey on the Jersey Shore. The topography is very similar. He married into a Harvard family, as Hallie’s dad was Harvard Class of 1942, his father was a Harvard man, and her aunt was on the faculty of Harvard Medical School. Even as they moved to Atlanta and Cincinnati for many years, Cape Cod was their summer refuge.
His career on the business and marketing side of the publishing industry took them to Cincinnati in 1991. In 2002, he was chosen to launch Tufts Media, LLC and they moved back to the Boston area from Cincinnati. The last eleven-year stretch of his career took him to New York City to work in consumer health publishing with Johns Hopkins Medicine and UC Berkeley School of Public Health. They published Health After 50, The Berkeley Wellness Letter and many specialty publications on specific diseases. During these eleven years, he stayed at the Harvard Club of New York City for two nights a week—thus 100 nights a year and 1100 nights in all--three years of his life at HCNY! HCNY helped him extend his career longevity.
Hallie and David have loved sailing and tennis during their Cape Cod summers. They are members of the Woods Hole Golf Club and the Harbor Head Tennis Club, as well as the Chapoquoit Yacht Club, founded in 1903. They enjoyed Hallie’s family home on Chapoquoit Island in West Falmouth for many years, and bought their own condo in 2021. This year they upgraded to a larger condo at Falmouthport. They are past members of the Harvard Clubs of Atlanta, Cincinnati, Boston, and New York City and enjoyed all memberships! They are very pleased to join the Harvard Club of Cape Cod.
