Retiring: Creating a Life That Works for You

Harvard & MIT Clubs of Cape Cod
Doubletree Inn, Hyannis, April 22, 2025

Teresa M. Amabile of Harvard Business School will delve into the complex and transformative journey of retirement as presented in the insightful new book, Retiring: Creating a Life That Works for You (2024).  Teresa will be joined by her esteemed co-author, Lotte Bailyn of the MIT Sloan School, who will participate in the discussion of their research findings and the implications for having a satisfying retirement life.

Their book goes beyond the conventional financial and health-related advice, focusing on the psychological, social, and life-restructuring challenges of retiring.  Through compelling stories and extensive research, the authors offer wisdom on navigating the identity shifts, relationship dynamics, and life structure changes that accompany retirement.  Whether you’re nearing retirement, living in it, supporting a loved one, or leading an organization with retiring employees, this book provides the insight and practical advice needed to make this life transition fulfilling and rewarding.
