Aquafarms and Lewis Bay Oysters
Hyannis Yacht Club, Wednesday, March 12, 2025, from 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM
Oysters are grown and harvested all around Cape Cod, and some of the most delicious come from Lewis Bay located along the Barnstable/Yarmouth town line. Two Lewis Bay aquafarmers, Michael Dunbar and Ed Janiunas, will join us for a fascinating and fun presentation about their aquafarms, the life of an oyster, why Lewis Bay oysters taste different from all other oysters, and suggested beverages to complement our local delicacy.
Mr. Dunbar started aquafarming in 2004 and has owned and operated Dunbar Aquafarm since 2014. Mr. Janiunas has owned and operated Sweetheart Creek Aquafarm since 2016.
Town of Yarmouth Shellfish Constable Casaundra Healey will also be with us to share her knowledge of the environmental importance and benefits of oyster farms.
Harvard Club of Cape Cod member, Judy Warren, will moderate the presentation and Q&A.
The three entree alternatives for this event are Baked Cod, Statler Chicken, and Stuffed Acorn Squash. The cost for the event is $48, and there will be a cash bar. The Hyannis Yacht Club is donating oysters for sampling!
