Elected to the HCCC board in 2024, Blue has been a life-long summer resident, now converting to year-round Cape residence. She commutes between Cambridge and her Barnstable home on land once farmed by her great grandparents.
Blue retired in 2018 from a career in marketing and public relations, promoting public understanding of the field sciences, environmental conservation, and natural history. After almost three decades as head of media relations and volunteer recruitment at Earthwatch Institute, she spent a dozen years as Director of Public Affairs for the Harvard Museums of Science & Culture, and its flagship, Harvard Museum of Natural History, where she was instrumental in doubling the museums’ attendance to more than 315,000 visitors/year. A graduate of the college, she is currently a member of the Harvard Institute for Learning in Retirement, has served as an appointed Director of the Harvard Alumni Association, and has recently co-chaired her 55th Reunion. She is a past board member of the Association to Preserve Cape Cod (APCC), the WGBH Community Advisory Board, and the Harvard Travelers Club. She has one son by her late husband John Hurwitch H’63, HBS‘66, as well as four stepchildren and nine stepgrands.
