Educator, analyst / administrator, horse-lover

Cindy KingCindy graduated from the University of Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science and taught high school biology for two years before moving to the Washington, DC area to work with educational associations. She earned a Masters in Social Foundations of Education remotely from the University of Virginia (professors drove to Northern Virginia for classes long before Zoom). Later, after earning her SM in Health Policy and Management from Harvard School of Public Health, she held policy analysis positions with U.S. Congressional Office of Technology Assessment and the American Medical Association. Her administrative knowledge and skills were honed in the Provost’s Office at the Medical University of South Carolina, as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at the Massachusetts College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences in Boston (across Longwood Avenue from the Harvard medical campus), and as Director of Institutional Effectiveness at the MGH Institute for Health Professions.

While on the HCCC Executive Committee, Cindy facilitated the summer internship program.

She and her husband, Marc Silverstein, MD, are retired and live in Lakewood Ranch, Florida and Mashpee, Massachusetts. Cindy volunteers at therapeutic riding centers in Florida and Massachusetts; when not with the horses and students, she enjoys cooking, baking, and knitting.
