Rufus Peebles ’61, J.D.’64, applied to Harvard because his high school counselor encouraged him and even pushed him. Thank you, Miss Carter. In the spring of 1961 he began interviewing students applying to the College. That fall he became a freshman proctor and advisor. In July, 1964, he became an Associate Director of the Harvard College Fund and began psychoanalysis in Boston. After two training programs and an Ed.D. from Boston University, he became a licensed psychologist. He served on the staff of McLean Hospital, taught psychology courses at Harvard and Leslie Graduate School, and led professional training groups.

He really enjoys his role as Vice President for Schools of the Harvard Club of Cape Cod. This allows him to encourage students to apply to Harvard College and to work with volunteers who interview these students. Each of them makes a significant contribution to the admissions process and to these students.
