Frances Mautner Markhof, MS '60, MPA '81
International Security Expert and Resident of Cape Cod and Vienna
Frances Mautner Markhof and her family have been long-time summer residents of Cape Cod (West Falmouth). She resides in Vienna, Austria. She now serves as Executive Editor of iGlobenews (www.iglobenews.org) and Executive Director of the Austrian Center for International Studies (www.acisaustria.eu). Her work and publications focus on Europe and Northeast Asia security, multilateral security cooperation, and nuclear non-proliferation. Before joining ACIS she was an official of the International Atomic Energy Agency. She has also led research projects at the Brookings Institution, the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute (SIPRI), the German Foreign Policy Institute (DGAP), and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Austria. She has degrees from Tufts University, Harvard University Graduate School of Arts and Sciences, University of Vienna, and the Harvard Kennedy School. Her husband, Gustav, was Austrian and her daughter, Diana, is a graduate of Brown University, University of Vienna Law School, the Vienna Diplomatic Academy, and the University of Chicago Law School (LLM). They look forward to meeting other summer Cape Cod residents and to taking part in HCCC events.
