On October 12th, more than 70 Harvard Club of Cape Cod and Cape Cod MIT Club alums and guests gathered at a luncheon at the Doubletree Inn in Hyannis to share fellowship and lunch and to hear a presentation by our guest speaker, newly-elected Barnstable County Sheriff Donna Buckley. The Sheriff described the role of the Sheriff’s office as the care and custody of inmates. Rehabilitation programs include job training. Educational opportunities, and comprehensive mental health & drug and alcohol treatment, including Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT), are paramount. These all contribute to meeting the goal of reducing recidivism and enabling inmates to re-enter society as productive citizens in our neighborhoods and communities.
