Getting On, Off and Around Cape Cod - The Future of Our Transportation SysteM
Thursday, March 9 from 11:30-2:30 at the Doubletree
Steven Tupper, Deputy Director of the Cape Cod Commission Buy Tickets Now
Last March, HCCC hosted Steven for a presentation about plans to replace the aging bridges, especially the Bourne bridge that is within 5 years of the end of its useful life, and plans to keep both open during reconstruction. Since then the application to partially fund the reconstruction with the first round of federal funding under the Infrastructure for Rebuilding America Act(INFRA) was denied, although a small planning grant was funded. The Commission is updating its Regional Transportation Plan, including the future of the bridges, and we have the opportunity to hear about their plans and to participate in their public input process. Steven will be joined by his colleague, Colleen Medeiros, the Commission's Transportation Program Manager directly responsible for the Plan. The Transportation Plan is connected to the housing affordability issues we will hear about in February, since an estimated 50% of the Cape workforce now commutes to their jobs from off the Cape due partly to the challenges of finding housing here.
Bring your concerns, questions and ideas about getting around Cape Cod to this interactive session.
